Part 1a.
- Turn the soldering iron and set it between 4 and 5.
- Wait for the soldering iron to heat up.
- Wet the sponge.
- Melt a tiny bit of solder on the end of the iron to check if it is ready to use.
- Wipe the tip of the iron on the wet sponge to remove any residue.
- Check to make sure the tip is shiny and silver.
Part 1b.
- Make sure the soldering iron is clean of residue – clean it using the wet sponge.
- ALWAYS make sure the soldering iron is off before stepping away from it.
- If you are passing it on to someone else, do not hand it to them directly. Place the iron back in the holder for the next person to pick up.
Part 2a.
You always need to check to see if the positive input is placed in the correct port. You also need to make sure it is on the correct setting, such as A for current and V for voltage.
